The Aztec heads for Florida

Well, I think it is time to move the Aztec down to Florida. I am thinking of relocating this nice little twin-engine aircraft to either Miami, or Ocala, or perhaps the Orlando area. Perhaps someone has some advice on the best place to "temporarily relocate" the aircraft? The plan is to move it to Florida (where the flying weather is good almost year-round) and put a "for sale" sign on it. If the plane sells (http://www.casadeservicio.org/projects/Aztec.JPG) then the funds will be put towards the purchase of the Maule aircraft (which is PERFECT for use in Nicaragua). If the Aztec does NOT sell, then we will fly it down to Puerto Cabezas (via Cozumel, and Managua) for use in our ministry.

Please pray for God's guidance in this matter. The Aztec WILL have some utility for us in our ministry with the Moskito people, but the Maule aircraft would be SO MUCH BETTER. The cost of the Maule is prohibitive. Please let us know if you can think of any way for us to gather the necessary money to purchase and operate the Maule. In the mean-time, we'll make GOOD USE of the Aztec in Nicaragua.

What a week

It has been a BIG week for us. Several things happened that are worth reporting.

For ONE, I was able to go down to the Cleveland Amateur Radio Club and take the test to earn my Technician's Radio License (I'm a HAM now).

Secondly, we received word from Calmore Williams in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua that the President of Nicaragua has APPROVED our request to be able to import our household goods, and other necessary equipment into Nicaragua TAX FREE! I am eager to see this approval in writing, but in the mean time we are thanking God for this blessing, and passing our thanks along to YOU also, for the prayers.

As Russell Cook mentioned in an email to me this week, we still do have needs, and as always we covet your prayers for these needs. Our need to sell the house in Cleveland, TN is one BIG thing that needs much prayer.

Please pray with us for the safety of Russell, and Connie and the kids as they venture out to Europe to further the artistic goals of their children. We know they will have a GLORIOUS TIME, but it is a new environment for them, and so please keep their journey in prayer. Thank you for that.

I was reminded by Carolyn this week about a short trip we took in Managua from the airport to our hotel (about a 25 minute trip) by taxicab. It was raining (and I mean IT WAS RAINING!) very hard...VERY HARD. It was raining so hard that the streets of the city in some places had literally become lakes. At one point on our journey, and for several miles, the water was actually coming up to within about six inches of the bottom of the cars windows! IT WAS DEEP!

Carolyn and I were both very impressed at the time with the drivers ability to nonchalantly continue the journey through these deep and murky waters. No matter what the depth of the waters was, the driver just kept on going! We were entertaining thoughts of how we would get out of this deluge if the automobile suddenly had enough of this dunking. Well, we made it through the several MILES of water to the hotel safely, but when I remembered that journey, and remembered how impressed I was with the drivers ability, and nonchalance in the face of what WE considered "hazardous" conditions (we were imagining trying to get our suitcases out of the trunk and wading through navel deep water to the nearest high spot)...it made me reflect upon our lives as Christians.

I wonder, if secular people who are facing a decision about Christ's Love, and presence and "reality"...use some of us Christians to lead the way? If perhaps they "weigh" our perceivable lives? And what that perception of each of us IS?

Are WE a "driver" who through God's guidance keeps on trudging through life's deluges, and thereby impressing the people that are watching? Or are we waiting for the waters to recede before we take up our leadership positions? Are people, secular or otherwise, seeing us as "workers", or "watchers". Which would YOU like to be seen as?

We invite you to look at the links below the signature line to visit our website to see exactly what our mission in La Moskitia, Nicaragua is all about. If you visit the "myspace" link, you can also see some videos and pictures, and drop us a note. We welcome that contact.

God bless you, deeply and richly!

The things we say, in passing

I was walking to the car from dinner last week with two women. The two were talking, and I really wasn't paying much attention (a male trait?) but something one of them said caught my ear. Apparently the two had been discussing Heaven, and things of that nature (you have to love being in fellowship with Godly people, eh?).

The first lady turned to the second one and said "sometimes I just get SO mad at Eve"!

Well, I have to tell you, I was a bit flabbergasted at first... Could a person really be thinking that the responsibility for the predicament of mankind's soul, and the necessity of salvation through Grace could be laid upon Eve's shoulders? Now, in fairness, I know the lady that made the statement very well and I know that her Christian doctrine IS biblically sound, always. She made this statement in passing, as a cute way of expressing her lament over humanities being evicted from Eden, paradise. But the cute little joke, DID make me think.

Have you ever heard anyone make a statement like that? What did it make YOU think of? What do YOU think of this "innocent" little remark?

I need to pass on to you once again that Carolyn and I have the opportunity to share our mission on July 1rst in the Waynesboro, Tennessee area. If anyone wants to come along... write me a note, and I'll send you directions and contact information.

I was fortunate enough to receive and email from Pastor Ed, over in Anderson, SC this last week. I think we will be meeting with him soon to talk about La Miskitia. Pastor Ed has been blessed to actually make the trip to the La Miskitia region and see for himself the needs there. Please keep our journey in prayer as we make contact with this Christian "warrior".

reflections on God's sustenance

I find myself very thoughtful this morning, reflecting upon how God provides for us. I think that we sometimes get so "wound up" in making our living, and earning our daily bread that we forget that God also provides for us...as we, through Christ's Love, help to provide for each other.

We see that in 1 Corinthians Christ gives us words of wisdom (all verses, but I'm referring to verses 1-15 here). After these "strictures" of wisdom are given, Christ shares with us that we are all one bread. All. It is this simple little verse which gives me pause.

(1 Corinthians 10:17:)
For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread

It makes me reflect on how we became a "denominational" body of Christ. I wonder if when the tower of Babel fell (thereby confounding humanity's language) it didn't somehow affect our ability to be "pure" in Christ? I can easily see why various people can not manage to get along if they have widely disparate beliefs, like Muslims and Christians, and Buddhists and others. But when I see Christians, brothers and sisters in Christ, having real problems interacting with one another it makes me very, very sad.

I truly long for the missions field, where ALL Christians unite together to accomplish His works. There are denominational differences of course, but we stand together in Christ's Love, and His admonition that we are "one bread".

This past Sunday, Carolyn and I were blessed to be able to share our mission in Nicaragua with the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ducktown, Tennessee. It was a wonderful, caring and sharing experience. Good people there in Duck Town. (quack, quack !)

I am proud to know these Godly, Christians!

We are also sharing our mission on July 1rst in the Waynesboro, Tennessee area. If anyone wants to come along... write me a note, and I'll send you directions and contact information.
